Bleacher Bookie’s Best Bets For NFL Week 5

Back with our best bets for the NFL this week. Here’s our collection for week 5.

Chargers vs. Giants (-2.5)

Both teams are 0-4. Both desperate for a win, without one, its full tank mode. The Giants are at home and are coming off two close losses. They could just as easily be 2-2. I don’t like the Chargers coming to the east coast and playing the 1 pm timeslot, basically 10 am for them. Teams usually don’t do well in this situation. With the season and possibly Ben McAdoo’s job on the line, lay the 2.5 at home for the Giants. Expect their defense to step up in big spots in this game. 28-20 Giants.

Pick: Giants -2.5

Packers vs. Cowboys (-3)

Dallas is 1-7 Against the spread in its last 8 games vs teams with winning records. I don’t expect an Aaron Rodgers led team to end up on the wrong end of that one. Dallas hasn’t been the same team as last year thus far. They’ve struggled at times to run the ball behind what is clearly a less effective offensive line. But Dallas pass defense is the biggest problem here. It’s one of the worst in the NFL, I expect Aaron Rodgers to dissect them all night. Oh yeah, you’re getting a full field goal too. When in doubt, take Aaron Rodgers and the points.

Pick: Packers +3

Texans vs. Chiefs (-1.5)

I am all in on Deshaun Watson. I have been from the minute the Texans drafted him. It was a perfect fit. A team which was a competent QB away from being a legit contender. Watson is way more than competent, he looks to be the franchise. While the Chiefs are the only undefeated team, they’re coming off a short week, on the road in Houston. Ill take Deshaun Watson and the points as a home dog with a whole lot of talent and a whole lot to prove.

Pick: Texans +1.5

Seahawks vs. Rams (-1.5)

While the Seahawks have struggled against the Rams in the past, they’re really starting to play well. Their offense has finally righted the ship and their defense again, tops in the NFL. While the Rams and Jared Goff have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL thus far, this Seattle defense will be their toughest test yet. I expect the Seahawks to go into the lackluster Rams stadium environment and make life very difficult for Gurley and Goff. I’ll take the risk of a possible trap game and the points.

Pick: Seahawks +1.5

Jaguars vs. Steelers (-7.5)

The Steelers have a top 5 defense in the NFL right now. This won’t bode well for a Bortles, while improved, has still had his shaky moments this year. Especially coming off an embarrassing week 4 loss to the Jets. Now going on the road in front of the terrible towels in Pittsburgh. On offense, the Steelers dealt with some drama around Antonio Brown this week, but the ship seems to be righted there and I think it will actually be helpful to them. LeVeon Bell has finally returned to his best running back in the NFL form. The Jaguars allow an NFL worst 5.7 YPC. Expect LeVeon to have a huge day as the Steelers pull away with a win and an easy cover in the second half. Let’s just hope its big enough to avoid one of Blake Bortles infamous bullshit backdoor covers.

Pick: Steelers -7.5
