Matt Barnes Lays Out Some Truth About Doc Rivers Following the Blake Griffin Trade

You can always count on a good quote from Matt Barnes, even in retirement. Despite him looking like every movie villain ever, he usually is pretty honest about what he says. He’ll catch a lot of heat and be trolled relentlessly because, I mean, let’s be real, he’s got plenty to be trolled over. But Barnes isn’t like a lot of these Superstars today with all the drama. If Barnes is one thing, its real, 100% of the time.

I’m glad that he decided to spit some truth on Doc Rivers. Although its nothing people shouldn’t know already. Everyone apparently is afraid to say how overrated of a coach Doc Rivers is. He won a title when the original big three fell into his lap in Boston when there was no other competition like that. He was terrible in both Orlando and his first two years in Boston. He’s been underwhelming almost every season in his Clippers tenure. He was given complete control over the franchise and has made some questionable decisions as a GM. Including the signing of Austin Rivers. It’s no secret that Austin Rivers is arguably the least likable player in the league. His face and attitude just do it to people I guess.

Doc then had his GM privileges revoked. It’s been reported he’s the reason Chris Paul left. Citing specifically the relationship between Doc and his son and how Austin is treated compared to other teammates. Numerous rumblings have come about that this has been a huge sticking point with Clippers players. Even Paul Pierce who is the biggest Doc defender refused to endorse the relationship between the two, nor deny any of the negative reports concerning either of them. If Paul Pierce isn’t going to defend Doc, then no one will.

And if Paul Pierce won’t deny the rumors, then they’re true. Like I say with Taylor Swift and her boyfriends when everyone has the same complaints, it’s not a them problem, its a you problem. And in the words of the once, still and always entertaining and insightful Terrell Owens (future XFL WR)…”Like my boy tells me: If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it is a rat.”
