I Need the Shaq/Mcgee Saga To Continue

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend my Friday night watching Shaqtin a fool highlights strictly of Javale McGee. Hysterical stuff, at least for anyone not named Javale McGee. For Javale McGee? not so much. So what do you do when you’re tired of getting roasted by the inside the NBA crew? you go to twitter of course! I absolutely love these twitter beefs, we have a front row seat to these NBA stars just talking trash to each other and its happening more and more.

You know it’s getting real when the coach steps in and defends one of his players from getting roasted. Steve Kerr on McGee being continuously picked on: “It’s not the greatest thing for your reputation. I can tell you that I had a preconceived notion of JaVale before I got here that turned out to be false. A lot of that is what goes on with Shaqtin’ A Fool. It’s unfortunate. It’s kind of the way this whole thing has played out. It’s too bad.” I agree with Kerr that it is unfortunate, but that’s the double-edged sword of playing a professional sport in a time where EVERYTHING is recorded/immediately available to the masses. You gotta learn to laugh at yourself and embrace it or the trolls will tear you apart. Oh, but it wasn’t just McGee and Kerr speaking on it.  Kevin Durant came out and defended McGee:

“Shaq wants to make a joke about it, but if it was him in that position, he’d feel the same way,” Durant said. “We couldn’t call him a bum and all this because he’s such a great player, obviously. But still, everybody can’t be Shaq. He’s trying to make his money and enjoy the game of basketball and the perception of him now is that he’s a dumb player because he makes mistakes out there on the court. Shaq was a s—-y free throw shooter, he missed dunks, he airballed free throws, he couldn’t shoot outside the paint. He was bigger than everyone, didn’t have no skill, bigger and stronger than everyone. Still a great player, but you had your flaws as a player and you played on five or six teams, too. So it’s not like he’s just some perfect center. You had your flaws, too.”

I neeeeeeeed this drama. Honestly, I think the NBA does too. Shaq and Barkley talking trash to each other/ other NBA players is equally entertaining as some of the games that we watch. We all know there are only three or four teams that really have a chance to win it all, so why not have as much fun as we can getting to that point? Granted, I’m a little biased being a Knicks fan. Let’s face it, though, the commentary and analysis from these guys is entertaining stuff. Simple as that. During the all-star weekend, the things these guys were saying had me rolling on the floor. They’re funny guys who played the game and call it like they see it. I can’t wait for another JAVALE MCGEEEE (Shaq voice) slip up. PS. I hope the warriors contacting turner sports about this situation doesn’t bring a swift end to the entertainment. That would give us all just another reason to hate the Golden State Warriors.

Stay tuned folks…
