Mets pitcher Matt Harvey skipped Saturday’s game and got himself suspended after seeing pictures of his supermodel gal pal out partying with another man, sources told The Post.
The “Dark Knight” became an emotional wreck on May 2, after paparazzi photos came out showing Adriana Lima stepping from a limo and heading into Rihanna’s Met Gala afterparty with her former boyfriend, NFL star Julian Edelman.
Both the Victoria’s Secret stunner and the Patriots wide receiver — with whom she had broken up several months earlier — wore grins on their faces like they were having the time of their lives.
Inside the party, Lima and Edelman were “flirty,” Post sources said. And, to add insult to injury, Lima unfollowed Harvey on Instagram after the event. – H/T NYP Page Six
What a high power love triangle Harvey got himself tied up in. I gotta say I kinda feel for Harvey. He’s had a pretty rough past year and a half or so. On and off the field. When this whole saga began I honestly thought his first excuse was a real bitch move. You had a migraine from being hungover so bad that you couldn’t even make it to the stadium to sit on a bench for three hours? That’s soft as baby shit.
This excuse, though still definitely soft, is at least a little more understandable. It’s hard for an average bleacher fan to imagine what it’s like to date a woman like Adriana Lima. Who’s out of this world hot. Just a complete smokeshow. One of the hottest Victoria Secret Angels of all time. Which is an incredible group to be a part of, let alone shining out above the rest?
Nevertheless, none of us will ever be in Matt Harvey’s shoes. We all know what it’s like to be heartbroken. It sucks, it’s devastating and crippling. Now imagine that girl you were heartbroken over was Adriana fucking Lima. I don’t care how much money, fame, power or good looks you have. I don’t care which dime piece or Sports Illustrated swimsuit model you have on deck for your little baseball bat. Andriana Lima is still Adriana Lima. No matter who you are, watching that ass walk out the door into another man’s arms is going to fuck your day up.
One of the Mets was quoted anonymously saying that “He just wants to be Derek Jeter.” I totally get that, who wouldn’t. He’s Derek Fucking Jeter. The King of New York, The Bi-racial Angel. Had his choice of any woman, any time, any place. This is what hurts Harvey the most. He understands deep down why she’s doing it. Edelman is a winner and Harvey currently is not. They are trending in opposite directions. When you’re a girl like Adriana Lima, appearances are literally your whole life. For her, Edelman is simply a better business move than Harvey is.
So do I blame Matt Harvey for doing what he did? Absolutely not. Most of us would have stayed at home and just been furious or devastated all night. Not Harvey. Harvey went out to one of the most exclusive clubs in the city, with a bunch of gorgeous women, and had a cocaine alcohol and sex filled evening to help him forget. As much as you never want to admit it and you wanna bash Harvey, you’d do exactly the same thing as he did if you ever had the chance. Then again at that point I think most guys would have felt lucky enough just to have been naked in the same room as Adriana Lima.
Stay strong Matt, don’t forget who was here for you in your time of need, next time you need to “blow off some steam” because of your model ex-girlfriend I’m always available to wingman.
