Why The Titans Need Brandin Cooks

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interested in dynamic speedster, New Orleans wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Cooks is entering his fourth and final year with the Saints and can score from anywhere. I’ve always loved Cooks, he can run routes, catch the ball, and is as fast as anyone. Sometimes I wonder if the Saints take him for granted though. In fact, in week 11, Cooks had no catches on just one target against the LA Rams, yet the Saints scored 49 points. Cooks was apparently not pleased and I fucking wouldn’t be either. I know the name of the game is to win, which they did, but he’s by far the best receiver on that team. But, just ONE fucking target? You have to be kidding me. Point being there’s bad blood there, it would behoove Cooks to shoot his arrows over to the Titans, as he likes to say.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of Brandin Cooks to the Titans. The Titans are in a great position with a rising star in the making in third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota. They also have two dynamic playmakers in running back -former rushing title winner- DeMarco Murray and pro bowl tight end Delanie Walker. Two studs for sure. Wide receivers, though? Yeah not so much. The Titans were led by ex-dolphin Rishard Matthews who had a career year 65 catches for 945 yards and 7 touchdowns. Don’t get me wrong he’s a nice receiver and I loved the pickup last year, still do. But he’s no number one, not by any stretch of the imagination. They also have Kendall Wright who’s most likely departing after a very injury-plagued and disappointing start to his career with them. Despite this the Titans still were fourteenth in scoring, without any real threat at receiver, putting up 23.8 points a game.

This is why Cooks would be the perfect fit. Both he and Matthews would create mayhem for opposing defenses both having lighting quick speed. They will more than stretch the field and take away those 8-man fronts DeMarco Murray so often faces. Alabama product Derrick Henry ain’t too shabby either, nice two headed monster they have. This would also open up the middle of the field big time for Delanie Walker, where he makes his living. The Titans also have one of the sturdiest lines so their offense would be a machine, pick your poison.

The addition of Brandin Cooks would pay huge dividends for the Titans and may even be the move to get them over the hump. The Titans tied for the division at 9-7 but lost the tiebreaker to the Houston Texans. If they add Cooks and Texans have anyone named Brock or Savage at QB, the Titans will surpass them easily. I also have never been one to think the Colts are good, defense is atrocious and they have no line to protect Luck. Feel bad for Luck it’s almost as if he’s rotting away in Indianapolis. The Denver Broncos are very interesting, they also have a weak offensive line and may be the favorites to acquire veteran quarterback Tony Romo. Logically if they get Romo, they would be the favorites, but with that line? Romo may be dead by week 8. Therefore this is why I believe if the Titans can get Cooks, which shouldn’t take much since receiver don’t have value, that the Tennesee Titans will win the AFC South. Yup, you heard me, if they can just add a few more impact player to go with Cooks they’ll be looking at double digit wins.
